#1 “Order of Approval”

  • Look at this passage: JESUS HASN’T DONE ANYTHING YET vs10/11
  • Moment: Decision: decides to own it, Identification: “son/child”, Approval: well-pleased/beloved, equipped: Spirit descends/gifts/fruits/Guide/Counselor
  • Our Baptism&onward: God sees us through Jesus

o   God sees the Jesus version of you: not concerned with sucesses/failures.. but YOUR HEART

 

#2: Inseparable connection between God’s affirmation and direction

  • Not just physical but still affect us: broken homes, hurts, harm, estranged relationships, loneliness, fear, etc
  • Progress in one area doesn’t mean progress everywhere: Solution? Way forward?

 

#3: When we decided to follow Jesus, accept our identity, receive God’s approval of us, let Spirit equip us…LOOK OUT..

  • The worst wilderness is no match for the heavens torn open through a Jesus-Follower

Rev. Michael Caines

I live to answer the question: “So how did you go from civil engineering to becoming a priest??” I have been here since 2008 when I arrived as the assistant. Since 2012 I have been leading the church as the Priest-in-Charge, and now as the full-time Lead Pastor. I grew up in Sussex, N.B. and then studied Civil Engineering at UNB Fredericton. After a brief period in youth ministry my wife and I moved to Uganda to teach and work at an Anglican Secondary School. After that, I studied at Wycliffe College in Toronto, ON and was ordained in 2008. I served with the Naval Reserve for a number of years but now as the Chaplain for 3 Field Artillery Regiment in Saint John and Woodstock, N.B. I love the outdoors and in my down time I enjoy running, sailing and playing music, but most importantly, time with my family.
