Belize Update – March 2, 2017

Belize Blog Day #1 March 2nd, 2017.

Left the country yesterday at about 10 am Atlantic time. Travelled to Portland with a few stops along the way and arrived approximately 4 pm Atlantic time.

Wake up time was 3:45 am Eastern time for a flight at 5:40 am. The baggage check line was so long we almost missed the flight!

About 45 minutes into our flight to Atlanta a woman fell unconscious in the airplane bathroom and they needed to call for medical personalle on board. Heard from an attendant that everything was okay though.

Late for our connection flight in Atlanta. We all sprinted to gate E34 from B34. If anyone has been to the Atlanta airport you understand that is basically a ten minute run straight through. Literally 4:46 minutes to take off when we hopped on the plane.

When finally through customs in Belize, April informs us that 1. We went to the restaurant Cheers right after landing (approx 45 minute drive from Belize City). We have gone to this restaurant each time we have gone to Belize and everyone returning was absolutely ecstatic we were going. All new comers fell in love with the fresh watermelon and lime juice! And 2. Every year we seem to always miss the famous Belizian canoe racing. (FYI: People race canoes down the Belize River and are able to watch the action from bridges). We now have plans to attend this race tomorrow!

After a year of communicating through email, we have finally met Miss Linda and Pastor Ron who run the Oasis Ministries. First impressions: wonderful, kind hearted people who have an amazing heart for Jesus! We are all so excited to get to know them on a deeper level!

We are certainly feeling spoiled from our hosts this evening, we were served with spaghetti and garden salad! #feelingloved
