Sermon Notes
Intro: Forming, storming, norming, performing
Big Idea: God has reconciled with us and we are now empowered to reconcile with each other
X2: The Resurrection of Jesus means love has been victorious and that life can now be victorious
Story/Context: First thing Jesus says, “Peace, be with you.” -> SOURCE: forgiveness, reconciliation
Caveat: recognize that not all conflicts/hurts/situations can be neatly reconciled
#1: The Resurrection of Jesus empowers us to apologize when necessary
Rooted in humility/Identity: we are children of a humble and Risen Lord
Responsible, Regret, Resolve -> sibling story
#2: The Resurrection of Jesus enables our ability to speak to our hurts and issues
Matthew 18 – go, go with another, invite community
Speaking up (to the right person) – ascribes worth/value, lives out freedom, helps move forward vs stay in pseudo-community
Ways: “I care about our relationship, can we talk about something I want to work out?” “You matter to me so I need to mention something – I hope you’ll hear me out”
Pray: for courage, presence, wisdom, grace -> same Jesus “Peace be with you” WILL BE WITH
#3: The Resurrection life-style is for every corner of our lives
- Life together means conflict… The resurrection lifestyle means we can navigate it well
