Big Idea: The Resurrection of Jesus can replace financial fear with financial freedom
X2: When we honour our need for Jesus, our other needs will be met
#1: The Death and Resurrection of Jesus are for our freedom… including our finances
- Cross -> sin defeated… including worrying/being preoccupied with wrong things.. like finances
Resurrection begins to see this unfold
- God’s Promise: I will be able to handle looking after your needs…
#2: God can operate outside the realm of our finite perspective
X2: God is capable of operating outside our limited expectations
- Things begin to happen that they didn’t plan for/expect
- Caveat: not all financial freedom comes in the form of finances…
Sometimes provision comes in what doesn’t happen i.e. THE NET DOESN’T BREAK
#3: Ultimate assessment of our financial freedom is how we include God
- With Resurrection: Kingdom financial theme emerges: You were made for more than worrying about survival, “do I have enough”, than managing excessive wealth…
- We are invited to enjoy God, enjoy creation, bless those around us with our resources, gifts, passions…
- Greatest Resource: ABILITY TO HUMBLY LISTEN TO VOICE OF GOD
The challenge is the same: Ultimate metric of financial freedom: Like the disciples: Do you have the courage to watch for the dawn, listen for the voice of God, and do what he tells you?
