Big Idea: Let Jesus use your difficult experiences to bring out His best in you
X2: Jesus lived among us to bring out His best in us
#1: Tether ourselves to God before we look to others offending us
- By the end of his life: Not one person stayed with Jesus
- Some actively opposed him/conspired, some said they would follow him but abandoned him
- Jesus has been radically gracious with us -> how can we justifiably withhold his grace from others
#2: There are no easy Kingdom of God assignments
- Why should we expect it easy? In fact, we should be leery of when it’s easy.
- We are now back in the Era of Adventure for the Kingdom of God
#3: If Difficulty is a given -> What hope do we have to do this well?
- vs 48 “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
- Teleios: EX. “Target”, mature/complete/fully -developed, ATTAINING THE END PURPOSE
- Be “Jesus-perfect”, be Grace-perfect”
- Means loving EVEN IF love is not reciprocated -> we will need each other to do this well or at all
- “The local church is the hope of the world”
o Mission, Vision: Bless entire community through church family and church infrastructure
o Strategy: Celebrate Jesus-centered-steps
