The Only Label that can Stick It Out…
Big Idea: God doesn’t run from runaways
X2: We can never outrun the gracious love of God
Story: Moses: Hebrew, orphaned, adrift, raised by Pharaoh’s daughter…
#1: Core Identity: We won’t get far, if we don’t know who we are
- vs. 11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”
- Identity that can never be taken away/challenged/never erode/revoked: I am _______ the one Jesus loves
#2: God is not afraid of Unpopularity
- Look at people groups in this story: Egyptians, Midianites, Canaanites, even Hebrews!!!
- It’s only a problem for us if we run from God when following God is not comfortable
#3: With God it would seem that often times… the bleaker the better
- Hebrew famine, slavery, desert, wilderness – THAT’S WHERE GOD SHOWS UP-SUFFERING
- vs. affluent Egypt, Canaan, Rome, etc
- It’s in desert wilderness God says, “Take off your sandals… holy ground.”
- God’s holy ground often looks different than the world’s holy ground
- Ever find yourself suffering, uncomfortable, not having all the answers, etc..
- YOUR IN GOOD COMPANY: Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, prophets, Jn Baptist, Jesus, Paul…
