Parish Family,
In light of governmental directives regarding non-essential gatherings – the parish leadership has decided to keep in line with many other churches in our area and cancel
our Sunday services for Sunday, March 15th at all locations. There are a number of reasons for this, but
the most important is that we have many people in our congregations who fall
into the “at-risk” category and would have a serious health risk if
infected with Covid-19.
The two phrases that seem to persist are:
1. A fear of a loss in Sunday revenue is not worth risking the health of our church family, and 2. We can still be the Church even if we can’t meet as a Church for a short period of time.
It remains our hope and prayer
that with diligence and patience it will not be too long before we are enjoying
the spring air and gathering for regular worship as a Church Family again. We will reassess regarding services on
Sunday, March 22nd next week.
On Sunday: I will upload
a video that will contain music, prayer and a reflection that you will be able
to participate in.
During the week: Our
largest gatherings are on Sunday mornings.
That being said, there are many other groups that meet during the week
such as small groups, Bible studies, youth group, etc. These are relatively small in number. We will be open as usual and prepared to keep
our Church space clean and sanitized so that the smaller groups may continue
meet as long as they practice due diligence.
Some groups may decide to refrain from meeting during this time and that
is okay as well.
Sunrise PlayPark: As of
Monday, the Sunrise Playpark will be also be closed for a week to walk-in
users. This is in light of the schools
being closed as a precautionary measure.
We will reassess in one week’s time.
Pastoral Care: The Care Connection Team and I are prepared to offer pastoral care as always. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you or someone you know would like a call or visit.
Remember – we are ahead of the curve on this one and our
province is taking clear, direct action to protect everyone. We are simply doing our part. It won’t be too long before it’s warm and
sunny and we’re outside enjoying New Brunswick’s best season. In the meantime we will pray, look for ways
to serve those around us and be Jesus-Centered, in the community, for the
community.
Blessings,
The Rev’d Michael Caines
