What can perfect rest look like?
Sunday Announcements
Big Idea: God doesn’t demand perfect rest, he promises perfect rest
X2: Come cash in on God’s promise that you can enjoy perfect rest
God gives us Time&Space: arrived at moment in history where time has become servant of space
- God in Scriptures – very concerned with time: time is a blessing/gift
Expose lies not rooted in God’s Love -> lies that keep us hopping…
#1: I’m essential, things will fall apart if I stop.” -> It’s nice to be needed, but can be idol
#2: “It won’t be done as well” -> maybe not, but often better/different
#3: “If I rest, I’m lazy” Question: Would you call God lazy
#4: “I like to be busy, that’s just who I am” Good News: You are the one Jesus loves and he promises you to come to him and find rest ->
TIP: LEARN YOUR STYLE/Try different things
#5 “If I rest I’ll get judged or made-fun-of” -> Society is fragmented, pick any position: judged/teased
– aspect of leadership: “Do what you feel in your heart to be right- for you’ll be criticized anyway.” E. Rosevelt
Anchor in Promise: “Come to me, give you rest… find rest for your souls..”, Prepare a table in presence of enemies…
Mind racing (white knuckle rest): “create in me a clean heart and renew…”
