The Rev. Michael Caines – Lead Pastor – Priest and Rector
I live to answer the question: “So how did you go from civil engineering to becoming a priest??” I have been here since 2008 when I arrived as the assistant. Since 2012 I have been leading the church as the Priest-in-Charge, and now as the full-time Lead Pastor. I grew up in Sussex, N.B. and then studied Civil Engineering at UNB Fredericton. After a brief period in youth ministry my wife and I moved to Uganda to teach and work at an Anglican Secondary School. After that, I studied at Wycliffe College in Toronto, ON and was ordained in 2008. I served with the Naval Reserve for a number of years but now as the Lead Chaplain for 37 Brigade Group. I love the outdoors and in my down time I enjoy running, sailing and playing music, but most importantly, time with my family.
The Rev. Eleanor Dryden – Deacon
Eleanor is our vocational deacon. She has a background in education, and is a faithful and caring member of our church’s ministry team. She serves the people, and proclaims Christ’s presence in a variety of ways. Through the years, she has been the facilitator of our Ladies Tuesday Afternoon Bible Study group, been instrumental at a local food bank, lead many services at St. Paul’s Oak Point and the Welsford Remembrance Day Services, assisted and conducted funeral services and interments, shared Prayerful Ponderings to the Parish in our bulletins, and has been involved in a variety of other ministries as well. She is a valuable asset to our Church leadership, and a blessing to our Parish and community.
April Medford – Lay Pastoral Assistant
In 2019, after many years of being a childcare provider in my home, I followed God’s guidance and became the Sunrise Play Park Director/Pastoral Assistant here at the Rez. I will one day start my studies and work toward being ordained. I am a mum to two adult children that I love spending time with. They are one of my greatest gifts in life. Family and friends play important roles in my life and complete my circle. I have a heart for mission work & spending time with people. In 2013, I went on my first mission trip to Belize. It was there that God changed my life in great ways. I have also done mission work in St. Vincent. One of my many blessings is that I have gone on mission trips with both of my children. I enjoy kayaking, hiking, snowshoeing, walking & bon fires with friends. I look forward to the future and where God is leading me.
Cindi-Lee Campbell – Parish Administrative Co-ordinator
Already a familiar face in our Parish, Cindi-Lee joined the staff in the fall of 2021 after serving many years as a Parish Warden and on Vestry. Having retired a few years ago from running her own Photography Studio, this part time position is perfect for her current lifestyle of embracing life and enjoying family, especially the grandkids. Her faith and dedication to God and our Parish is very important, and includes being involved in leading a Small Group (bible study) & helping out where needed. An avid lover of all music, Cindi-Lee has been studying acoustic and bass guitar in recent years and can be found on Sundays playing along and singing with the Praise Band and/or Choir. In the warmer months, during available time, you will find her enjoying time outside with her camera, sailing, cruising, and kayaking on the river, and working with Cruise Ship passengers, teaching them about our wonderful region and guiding them to capture the scenes in photographs.
Elizabeth MacIntosh – Custodian
I take great pride in being part of the team at the Rez. I work hard at living out our mission statement- “Jesus centered, in the community and for the community”. I became involved in this church because of our community garden, and now I am involved in small group bible studies & cooking with the Outflow team. I have become a part of this Church family, and that has been a blessing! I live in Grand Bay where I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren. My granddaughter and I enjoy activities that we can do together – walking, going to the beach, youth group & discovering new adventures together.
Jason Smith – Youth Minister
Building Life-Long Disciples in a Jesus Centered Community. That is the vision of Kingdom Come, the parish’s youth ministry that is led by Youth Minister Jason Smith. Jason has a passion for sharing the Good News of Jesus and developing a foundation of Christian values to the youth and families of the Parish and community. Jason has been volunteering in youth ministry for over 15 years and has done a bit of everything. Jason currently leads two youth groups, K-5 and Gr 6-12, Confirmation and Life in the Eucharist programs, develops VBS, St. Nicholas Eve events, attends the ONE and CLAY Conferences, and organizes seasonal Take Out Church packages for the families of our parish. Previously has worked with Sunday School, puppet ministry, Family Camp, Trunk or Treat and so much more. Jason is also the Chair of the Youth and Intergenerational (YIG) team for the Diocese of Fredericton and leads youth ministry initiatives Diocese-wide. Jason is also a husband and father of two children and full time teacher.
Marie-Hélène Morell – Salt Reef Director
My name is Marie-Hélène Morell and I am a wife, mother, artist and Christian living in the town where I grew up, Grand Bay-Westfield. My parents raised my brothers and I in the faith, attending Stone Church in Saint John on Sundays, and participating in family mission trips most summers. I spent about 8 years as the youth minister at the Rez, and have lots of experience working with kids at camps, VBS and other programs. Not to mention raising my own children! It is my heart to help the children of our parish know God and have His love made real in their lives.
