What do you get when grace and authority collide? The Redemption of the Little Red Hen
Luke 7:1-10 Sermon
Big Idea: When Jesus is in charge of a person – Grace is powerfully active
X2: When Jesus is in charge of a church family – Grace is powerfully active
#1: Real Faith understands authority
- Recognizes Jesus authority: No secret: “KINGDOM”, “..as one with authority..” “… just so you know the son of man has authority to forgive sins/heal…” LORD’S PRAYER…
- Good News: Our ultimate Authority loves us / desires best for us
#2: Qualifier: Real Faith understands Grace / God’s Heart / God’s Will
- God’s Authority becomes our powerful authority when we align with God’s heart – desire right things
#3: Result: Real Faith has Gracious Fruit
- God’s authority helps us overcome our own self-deceiving methods of assessing worth
- Grace is the measure – source? Jesus: “Father forgive them…”
- Sad ending – BUT GRACE… Parable of Vineyard, banquet!!!
- Grace means everyone can win – regardless of merit
- Question for us: Do we want to sit up here and eat bread alone???
- We have been given God’s gracious love / God’s undeserved forgiveness – How can we not share it
- Like Centurion: we have been given some seeds (building/location/loving family/talent/etc)
- Will we share what God has given us graciously?
